The Notebook is the story of a boy from the poor side of the tracks

A romance movie about love and sacrifice, cuts between the same couple at two seasons in their lives. We see them in the urgency of young romance, and then we see them as old people, she disappearing into the shadows of Alzheimers, he steadfast in his love. The director of this popular and well-known movie is Nick Cassavetes. The main cast includes the following: Ryan Gosling as Noah Calhoun, Rachel McAdams as Allie Hamilton, Joan Allen as Anne Hamilton which is Allies mother, David Thornton as John Hamilton which is Allies father, and Sam Shepard as Frank Calhoun which is Noahs father. The Notebook was released on June 25, 2004. The Notebook became a box office hit. It grossed $81 million at the U.S. box office on a $29 million budget.

The filmmakers got it right when they chose Gosling and McAdams. Each of these actors is pitch-perfect and brings a freshness to these characters. Even though we have seen the same types of characters in movies before, these actors make them seem interesting and unique. Noah and Allie came from two completely different backgrounds. Allie was born into a rich, southern family, while Noah was poor and worked in a lumber yard making just 10 cents an hour. Could you imagine only 10 cents an hour? The Notebook is the story of a boy from the poor side of the tracks who-predictably-falls for a beautiful, rich girl. Despite disparate backgrounds, the two find that they have a lot in common, including an excitement for life- and their need to drive each other insane! Over the period of a hot North Carolina summer, Allie and Noah fall passionately in love. But all doesn’t go so smoothly for the financially mismatched pair of lovebirds. Allies parents did not approve of Noah, of course because they were completely wrapped up in their pride of being rich plantation owners. Because of their disproval, Allies parents decided to put an early end to this teenage love affair. Allies mother sent her off to college in New York, far out of Noahs reach. Noah wrote Allie one letter a day for an entire year. Allie never wrote him back. Although she never wrote him back, it was not entirely her fault. Allies mother had hidden every letter from Allies reach, completely obliterating the knowledge of the letters ever being sent to her address. Seven years later, Allie met a young, handsome cotton plantation owner. He was the perfect image that Allies parents had created for their daughter. They were engaged to be married when Allie decided to make a trip back to Seabrook. Seabrook was the town in which Noah and Allie fell in love and spent that beautiful summer together. Allie decided to make this trip back to Seabrook because Noah built this grand plantation house. What many of you do not know is that this house was the exact image of Allies dream mansion. When Allie and Noah were 17 years old, Noah promised he would build this house for Allie. So, Noah kept his word. Allie wanted to just check up on Noah and receive assurance from him that he was doing okay. Unfortunately, that is not all that took place. Allie and Noah recaptured that summer they fell in love. Allie and Noah spent the week together and made love like there was no tomorrow. Allie was now brought to a very difficult decision. She was forced to choose between her rich, handsome fianc饬 and her first love, the equally handsome, but not-so-wealthy Noah Calhoun. Allie chose Noah. They ended up having three children together and lived a long happy life. When Allie was diagnosed with Alzheimers she was forced to be put in a nursing home. Noah wrote a book of their entire love story to read to Allie every day. He had supernatural faith that reading this exact story I just wrote for you would bring Allies memory back. And, amazingly, it did. The day after Allie remembered who Noah was, the two lovebirds died together in a nursing home bed. This is one beautiful love story I will never forget.
